FROM THE LAY DIRECTOR
…… DIOCESE OF COVINGTON CURSILLO MOVEMENT Lay
Director – Darryl Menning FROM
THE LAY DIRECTOR Dear
fellow cursillistas, There
are several items that I would like to make you aware of. First, the men’s weekend, that was scheduled to begin on
Thursday February 28th, will not be held.
We did not receive enough applications to proceed with the
weekend. A minimum of 12
candidates are needed to hold a weekend.
The next men’s weekend will be held on October 2nd
to 5th, 2008. Dan
Heck Sr. will be the rector for that weekend. The
next women’s weekend will be held on November 20th to 23rd,
2008. I am happy to
announce that Nancy Sampson will be the rector for that weekend. It’s
not too early to start thinking about, who you would like to invite to
one of these Cursillo weekends. Please
pray for Dan and Nancy and the teams as they prepare for the fall
weekends. A
Cursillo workshop will be held on Saturday May 10th from
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The
workshop will be presented by our regional service team.
The topic will be “Living in our 4th Day”.
Everyone is invited to come.
This will be a tremendous opportunity to listen to talks and
discuss how the Cursillo method can help us to persevere in our 4th
day. More details will be
available, as soon as the plans are finalized. Finally,
I want to announce the passing of Eduardo Bonnin. Eduardo died on Wednesday February 6th (Ash
Wednesday) at the age of 90. As
you know, Eduardo was one of the founders of the Cursillo Movement. Many priests and cursillistas filled the cathedral in
Mallorca, Spain for his funeral Mass.
He understood better than anyone the benefits of the Cursillo
method. I was happy to
learn that a foundation has been established to maintain and translate
his many writings. Please
remember him in your prayers and thank God for the gift of Cursillo in
your own life. Decolores, Darryl
