SPONSOR GUIDELINES

 

 

Before distributing an application to a prospective candidate please consider the following:

  1. “Speak to God about man before speaking to man about God”
  1. Be familiar with the responsibilities of a sponsor to a candidate especially after the weekend. (See sponsor duties) Do not sponsor someone if you are unable to carry out the sponsor’s responsibilities.
  1. Seek candidates from environments that they can later evangelize.

 

Inform your candidate of the following:

  1. Do not promise your candidate a place on the weekend. Tell him/her that someone from the Precursillo committee will contact them at a later date.
  1. The total cost of the weekend is $125.  There is a $25 non-refundable fee due with the application. The other $100 may be paid on the weekend. When discussing the cost of the weekend, advise your candidate that if he/she is unable to pay the cost or only part it will not prevent him/her from attending the Cursillo.
  1. Applications are due four (4) weeks prior to the Cursillo weekend.

 

 

Procedures for completing an application:

 

Step 1 – Application is giving to the candidate to complete by his/her sponsor.

 

Step 2 – The candidate takes the application to his/her priest or deacon for completion of Part 2.  The completed application is returned to the sponsor.

 

Step 3 – The sponsor’s information sheet is to be completed by the sponsor.

 

Step 4 - Attach the candidates application to our sponsor sheet and mail or hand deliver, along with the application fee, to the Cursillo Center.

 

Attention: Candidates from other dioceses need approval of the secretariats of both dioceses. (Sec. III, C of the Diocese of Galveston-Houston Cursillo Movement By-Laws)  They also need the spiritual director’s approval.
