WE INVITE YOU TO MAKE A CURSILLO WEEKEND!

The Cursillo is a 3-day opportunity to grow in your relationship with Christ and in communion with your fellow Catholics.  Experience for yourself how the graces and truths of our Catholic faith can help us to become more fully Christian.  “Cursillo (pronounced kur-see-yo) de Christiandad” is  Spanish for  “short course  in Christ.”  The movement began in Spain some years ago, so many of the words used to describe the movement are retained in Spanish.

A Catholic Cursillo Weekend is for practicing Catholics, 18 years or older, who are able to receive the Sacraments.  The weekend will help you to know Jesus Christ in a  more personal way  and to experience Him within His Church community ... a community drawn to Him just as the first disciples were drawn to Him.... a community asked to go forth and share His love with all the world!

The Weekend will include 15-25 people who are making the Cursillo for the first time, two priests who will provide the Sacraments and spiritual talks, and 20-30 laypeople who have already made a Cursillo and will be there to give talks, provide delicious meals, and serve your every need!  Talks will include such topics as Ideals, The Layperson in the Church, Grace, The Sacraments, Piety, Study, and Action.  Small table discussion will follow the witness talks by the priests and laypeople, so you’ll be able to share what the topic means to you on a more personal level.  Learn how other Catholic brothers and sisters are living their faith walk as they  seek to follow the will of God in their lives.  The high point of each day is our celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

The Cursillo is not “just another retreat,” but will give you a sense of real Christian living, and send you home with a method designed to give you continued encouragement and support in your daily walk.  The Cursillo is not for everyone.  Is it for YOU?

Ask God if this is something that would bless you as much as it has many others.  If you feel drawn to this opportunity, fill out the application Application-English.doc, and discuss it with your Parish Priest and obtain his signature.  Give it back to your sponsor/mentor to complete and mail in for you.  If you don’t know anyone in your area who has made a Cursillo, call us and we’ll put you in contact with someone from your area who may be able to sponsor/mentor you.  Your sponsor/mentor will answer questions about the Cursillo, and pray for you during and after your weekend.
