A friend from the Philippines shared with me a little story of a mother that begun like this - 'Sally jumped up as soon as she saw the Surgeon come out of the operating room. She said, "How is my little boy? Is he going to be O.K.? When can I see him?" The Surgeon said, "I'm sorry, we did all we could." Sally said, "Why do little children get cancer, doesn't GOD care any more? GOD, where were you when my son needed you?"...' Isn't this a normal question we all ask when our faith is shaken by events that is beyond our human ability to control. The question we confront God with is perfectly normal - Why? why does God allow this things to happen to people, to good people at that. Well, God does not intervene with normal human events otherwise it would be perfect situation all the time. God allows human events to flow naturally. This is His plan to purge us from imperfection to perfection. We live in a world with all its human imperfection. Perfection is a process and will be achieved at the end of our mortal journey. God uses all human events both good and evil to polish our imperfection. How is this process? Let me give offer an analogy. Look at how we drink our coffee (for coffee drinkers). Some prefers black with nothing in it. Others would like cream and sugar with their coffee. The more you add cream the color of coffee becomes lighter and lighter until the coffee is no longer recognizable. It has turned its color into cream. The coffee did not turn into the cream nor is it lost in the process, it's still there. So too with us. The more we allow God to polish our ways we become more and more like Him. May the blessing of Almighty God be with you all. Till next time. De Colores, FILIPINO CURSILLO
